China Information Security, EF Johnson: Early Volume Plays
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading near $5 were poised to move on above-average volume during Tuesday's session.
EF Johnson Technologies (EFJI) may gain ground Tuesday after the wireless communications company said that a subsidiary has received $4.5 million in orders from the U.S. Department of Defense prime contractors for secure wireless mesh products. Shares closed Monday at 94 cents. The 50-day average daily volume for EF Johnson is 41,000, according to the Nasdaq. China Information Security Technology (CPBY) jumped by 45 cents, or 8.5%, to $5.77 in the premarket session after the company said it was selected by the State Grid Corporation of China as one of its only two suppliers for the build-out of the nationwide Smart Grid in China. The 50-day average daily volume for China Information Security is 513,000. Avanir Pharmaceuticals (AVNR) and Amicus Therapeutics (FOLD) could trade higher after Canaccord Adams analysts initiated coverage of both stocks with a buy rating. Avanir shares closed Monday at $2.48, and Amicus ended the day at $3.30. The 50-day average daily volume for Avanir is 569,000, and the 50-day average daily volume for Amicus is 69,000. -- Written by Robert Holmes in Boston.
