Telit Wireless Solutions’ M2M Module Selected By USA Technologies For EPort EDGE Cashless Vending Device
Telit Wireless Solutions, Inc., the U.S.-based mobile technology arm of Telit Communications (AIM:TCM), announced today that USA Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ:USAT) a leader in providing the most secure, wireless and networked transaction solutions to the vending and unattended point-of-sale (POS) industries, selected Telit’s GC864-QUAD module to enable cellular communication in the company’s ePort® EDGE Cashless Payment System. The ePort EDGE will make its International CTIA Wireless debut at Telit’s booth #163.
The USA Technologies ePort EDGE device enables unattended POS terminals such as vending machines, washers and dryers and self-service car wash stations to accept credit, debit and other forms of cashless payment. The ePort also gives operators the ability to remotely monitor and manage machine performance for maximum efficiency while offering consumers greater convenience. “Our customers wanted a cashless payment terminal that responds to their needs at the most affordable price, and Telit’s GC864-QUAD enabled us to do just that. In addition to its compact form factor, the GC864-QUAD is multi-functional, so transaction processing does not need to slow down or stop when updates or downloads are performed,” said Ron Fridman, Vice President, Technology and Product Development of USA Technologies, Inc. “We are delighted with the high quality of the Telit product as well as the outstanding service and support that the company is providing.” The ePort EDGE cashless payment device is quickly gaining broad acceptance in traditionally cash-based vending markets because of its low cost advantage, one-piece design and advanced product features. The Telit GC864-QUAD makes much of this possible through an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack and serial multiplexer functionality, which offers dual channels of communication and enables the ePort EDGE to perform various tasks simultaneously, including transaction processing, data downloads, system maintenance and firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) updates. Because the integrated SIM connector is part of the Telit module, it takes up less circuit board space, enabling a compact and economical design that is easy to install.TheStreet Premium Services
