“I am delighted to participate in the League’s 90 th birthday celebration, recognizing the achievement of so many hardworking women – and men – who, over the past 90 years, have worked to involve voters in our political process,” said Mickie Siebert. “True equality begins with being an active member of one’s community and exercising the right to vote.” The date also marks the 90 th Anniversary of the 19 th amendment of the United States Constitution, giving women the right to vote. Kathe Thompson, president of the Palm Beach Chapter of The League of Women Voters said, “Our 90 th anniversary is an important milestone in the history of women’s rights, and offers not only a chance to reflect upon our successes, but to take those successes forward with fresh approaches and new resolve." The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes candidates or parties, but does take stands on issues based on positions resulting from intense study, discussion and consensus at the grassroots level. Through citizen education and advocacy, LWV works to improve our system of government and impact public policies.
