Irvine Sensors, National Bank of Greece: Early Volume Plays
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading near $5 were moving on above-average volume during Monday's session.
Irvine Sensors (IRSN) surged by 17 cents, or 62.9%, to 44 cents after the electro-optical products maker said it has received an additional order for its "Clip-On" thermal imagers worth $18 million. Volume topped 1.52 million shares, compared to the 50-day average daily volume of 425,000, according to the Nasdaq. Cell Therapeutics (CTIC) dropped by 30 cents, or 28.7%, to 75 cents. TheStreet's Adam Feuerstein wrote that the Food and Drug Administration raised concerns about the efficacy and safety of Cell Therapeutics' lymphoma drug pixantrone drug, according to a review of the drug posted to the agency's Web site Monday. Volume topped 34.6 million shares, compared to the 50-day average daily volume of 13.2 million. National Bank of Greece (NBG) American Depositary Receipts fell by 41 cents, or 10.4%, to $3.53 on concerns of the Greek government's debt. The slide in shares came even as European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said the ECB is "confident" Greece will cut its budget shortfall, according to a Bloomberg report. Volume topped 679,000 shares, compared to the three-month average daily volume of 1.36 million, according to Yahoo! Finance. Williams Coal Seam Gas Royalty Trust (WTU) shares slumped by 98 cents, or 33.5%, to $1.95 after the trust said it will terminate on March 1. The net present value (discounted at 10%) of the estimated future net revenues triggered the termination of the trust, it said. Volume topped 355,000 shares, compared to the three-month average daily volume of 32,000. -- Written by Robert Holmes in Boston.
