Ballard Power, Enterra: Early Volume Plays
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading near $5 were poised to move on above-average volume during Tuesday's session.
Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) jumped by 35 cents, or 15.1%, to $2.67 in the premarket session after the company said it has acquired a controlling interest in Denmark-based Dantherm Power, which will result in accelerated development of fuel cell backup power applications across Europe. The 50-day average daily volume for Ballard Power is 470,000, according to the Nasdaq.
Helicos BioSciences (HLCS) rose by 11 cents, or 9.8%, to $1.23 in the premarket session after the company announced the sale of a Helicos Genetic Analysis System to the Turku Centre for Biotechnology. Terms were not disclosed. Riitta Lahesmaa, Director of the center, said the acquisition of a Helicos system will allow the center to perform novel experiments using single molecule sequencing technology. The 50-day average daily volume for Helicos is 1.27 million.
MDRNA (MRNA) added 6 cents, or 5.9%, to $1.08 in the premarket session after the company announced the presentation of data highlighting the ability of its UsiRNA construct to significantly minimize off-target effects while maintaining potent RNA Interference (RNAi) activity. The 50-day average daily volume for MDRNA is 1.17 million.
PFSweb (PSFW) continued to rally, climbing 12.4% to $4.25 in the premarket session. Last week, PFSweb and Procter & Gamble (PG) jointly announced that they will begin piloting the eStore, an online shopping site that will be owned and operated by PFSweb and exclusively feature P&G products to consumers in the U.S The 50-day average daily volume for PFSweb is 19,000. Enterra Energy Trust (ENT) jumped by 37 cents, or 17.4%, to $2.48 in the premarket session after the company said its board of directors unanimously approved the conversion of the Trust to a corporation to be named Equal Energy Ltd.
