BioCryst, AgFeed: Early Volume Plays

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading near $5 were poised to move on above-average volume during Wednesday's session.

OceanFreight (OCNF) rose by 4 cents, or 4%, to $1.04 in the premarket session after the company late Tuesday filed a $400 million mixed securities shelf offering. The 50-day average daily volume for OceanFreight is 5 million, according to the Nasdaq.

AgFeed Industries (FEED) announced plans Wednesday for an internal reorganization. AgFeed said it will remain the holding company for two separate, wholly-owned businesses, one for its animal nutrients feed operations and one for its genetic hog production operations. Each business line will have a board of directors, an executive-level management team with strong industry experience, financial systems designed specifically for their operations and internal financing capabilities. The 50-day average daily volume for AgFeed is 1.69 million. The stock finished Tuesday's session at $5.08.

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (BCRX) jumped by 47 cents, or 5.9%, to $8.45 in the premarket session after the company said its partner Shionogi receives marketing and manufacturing approval for intravenous peramivir to treat patients with influenza in Japan. BioCryst will receive a third and final regulatory milestone payment of $7 million under its license agreement with Shionogi. BioCryst may receive future commercial event milestone payments of up to $95 million from Shionogi. The 50-day average daily volume for BioCryst is 2.18 million shares.

Flanders (FLDR) said late Tuesday it will voluntarily delist and deregister its common stock. The firm cited substantial savings it expects to realize from reductions in legal, accounting and other costs. The 50-day average daily volume for is 46,000.
