Cytori, Luna: Early Volume Plays

 

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading near $5 were poised to move on above-average volume during Friday's session.

Cytori Therapeutics (CYTX) jumped by 96 cents, or 14.8%, to $7.44 in the premarket session after the company said the Food and Drug Administration granted a 510(k) marketing clearance for its PureGraft System, allowing Cytori to launch the first and only body-contouring device in the U.S. cleared to use a patient's own fat tissue. The 50-day average daily volume for Cytori is 634,000, according to the Nasdaq.

Allos Therapeutics (ALTH) tacked on 9 cents, or 1.3%, to $6.82 in Friday's premarket session after JPMorgan Chase analysts initiated coverage of the stock with an overweight rating. The 50-day average daily volume for Allos is 1.89 million.

Luna Innovations (LUNA) rallied by 65 cents, or 24.8%, to $3.27 in the premarket session after the company said it will be extending its development and supply agreement with Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) to further develop Luna's technology for Intuitive's products. The 50-day average daily volume for Luna is 128,000.

Speedus (SPDE) surged by $1.30, or 44.1%, to $4.25 in the premarket session after the company's Zargis Medical subsidiary announced that Health Canada has cleared the Zargis Cardioscan device for sale in Canada. The 50-day average daily volume for Speedus is 21,000.
