Amazon's Kindle DX Gets Global Release

SEATTLE (TheStreet) -- Amazon.com(AMZN) announced the international release of the Kindle DX, its e-reader with a larger 9.7-inch screen display.
Amazon said the Kindle DX with global wireless capability is available for pre-order starting Wednesday for $489 at the company's Web site and begins shipping on Jan. 19. Amazon began selling a Kindle device with a 6-inch screen in October and says the device has been shipped to more than 130 countries. Kindle DX wirelessly downloads books, magazines, newspapers and personal documents. It includes a native PDF reader, auto-rotate capability and storage for up to 3,500 books, Amazon said. -- Reported by Joseph Woelfel in New York.
