Sequenom, Avanir: Early Volume Plays
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading under $10 were poised to move on above-average volume during Wednesday's session.
Sequenom(SQNM) jumped by 28 cents, or 6.4%, to $4.64 in the premarket session after an upgrade from Auriga U.S.A to hold and a price target increase from $3 to $4. The 50-day average daily volume for Sequenom is 6.4 million, according to the Nasdaq. Netlist (NLST) was among the most active premarket trades, jumping by 31 cents, or 5.9%, to $5.60 in the premarket session on Wednesday. The company's most recent news was a statement that an infringement lawsuit against it was without merit, which Netlist stated on Monday. The 50-day average daily volume for Netlist is 6.7 million, according to the Nasdaq. Avanir Pharmaceuticals (AVNR) spiked 29 cents, or close to 16%, to $2.12 in the premarket session after the biotech firm released positive results from its latest trials for an ALS drug; Avanir had the largest percentage gain among Nasdaq most actives under $10 on Wednesday morning.
