6:43 a.m. EST Gold hit $1,180 on news that India is open to buying more from the IMF. Since India recently traded some $6.5 billion for 200 metric tons of the yellow stuff, I wouldn't take these words lightly. No positions.
2. Lighthearted Wednesday
By Timothy Collins
9:05 a.m. EST I propose that we keep the day lighthearted and fun. Find your favorite snack-cake and have one. Heck, you are going to overeat tomorrow anyhow -- have two! For me, I'll grab a Twinkie. And now onto a look at earnings from yesterday: Coldwater Creek (CWTR Quote) is living up to the pleasantness of its name. The stock is indicated down this morning. I will watch the reaction early on to see if there is any life here, but more than likely I will cut bait and move on. Deere (DE Quote) actually had a decent report, but the stock is indicated slightly down here premarket. I'm not sure that it will be enough to put any kind of weight before the puts, but if there is a small profit there, then I plan on taking a good bit of the puts off the table for that profit. Tiffany (TIF Quote) and J. Crew Group (JCG Quote) both provided strong reports and good guidance, and the stocks are both indicated higher by more than 6% premarket. This should be enough for the call spreads, and the TIF call combination to show a profit early on. I am not looking to be greedy into the holiday weekend, and plan on taking at least 75% of these off the table. Long JCG, CWTR, TIF; short DE.
