NEW YORK(TheStreet) -- Electronic retailers are expected to win this holiday season, as shoppers spent 6.1% more in the category in the first half of November.
According to MasterCard Advisors' SpendingPulse survey, video games and earlier television promotions are boosting sales in the electronics category. All of this bodes well for retailers like Best Buy(BBY), Wal-Mart(WMT), Costco Wholesale(COST), Target and Sears(SHLD), which have already begun offering deep discounts ahead of Black Friday. J.P. Morgan analyst Christopher Horvers analyzed the promotions on televisions at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Sears and found that Sears is actually the most promotional. While electronics are booming, woen's apparel is still struggling, falling 3.3% in the first half of the month, while luxury goods tumbled 9.2%. -- Reported by Jeanine Poggi in New YorkNow See Our Photo Gallery: 15 Hot Video Games for This Holiday Season
