SPRINGDALE, Ark. (TheStreet) -- Meat processor Tyson Foods(TSN Quote) has appointed two senior executives as the company makes remarkable recoveries from lagging demand.
Donnie Smith, 50, currently the company's senior vice president of poultry and prepared foods, has been promoted to president and CEO of the world's largest meat producer. He takes over the helm of interim president and CEO Leland Tollett, who came on board in January. Tollett had served as Tyson's CEO in the nineties. In January the company's chief executive, Dick Bond, left the company during a period of weak demand, high commodity prices and animal feed costs and excess supply in the US meat processors market. In the month before, the chief executive of poultry producer Pilgrim Pride stepped down after the company filed for bankruptcy. Jim Lochner, 57, who serves as senior vice president of fresh meats has been promoted to chief operating officer.- Loading Comments...
