Second Bidder for Sara Lee Air Fresheners
RACINE, Wis. (TheStreet) -- S.C. Johnson has joined the bidding for Sara Lee's(SLE Quote) air-freshener business, a report says, pitting it against Procter & Gamble(PG Quote) for the operation.
Sara Lee's unit could be sold for more than $700 million. The bidding could still be weeks away, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing people familiar with the matter. S.C. Johnson also is interested in other parts of Sara Lee's international household-care business, the newspaper reports. S.C. Johnson's Glade air freshener brand has a big presence in Europe. Sara Lee officially put its international household and personal-care businesses up for sale in March. It was reported last month that P&G was in talks to buy part of Sara Lee's international household products unit. Sara Lee agreed in September to sell its personal care business to Unilever(UL Quote) for 1.275 billion euros ($1.87 billion) in cash. -- Reported by Joseph Woelfel in New York .
