Mo. Unemployment Rate Dips Slightly To 9.3 Percent

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri's unemployment rate dropped slightly last month as a few thousand more people gained jobs.

The state Department of Economic Development said Monday that Missouri's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 9.3 percent in October.

Nationally, the unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent last month.

Missouri's total nonfarm payroll increased by about 4,000 jobs. Losses last month in the trade, transportation and utilities sector and in local government jobs were more than offset by gains in durable goods manufacturing, private educational and health services and in professional and business services.
