Sprint Nextel To Let Shareholders Call Meetings

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) — Sprint Nextel Corp. said Thursday its board approved an amendment to its corporate bylaws that allows shareholders to call special meetings.

Shareholders must submit a written request that meets certain requirements stated in the bylaws, including those related to the timing of similar items or the timing of meetings already scheduled.

About 77 percent of shares were voted in favor of the proposal.

Shares of Sprint declined 14 cents, or 4.4 percent, to $3.05 in afternoon trading. The stock has ranged from $1.35 to $5.94 over the past year.
