Mass. Man Accused In Terror Plot Seeks Bail
DENISE LAVOIE
BOSTON (AP) — The lawyer for a Massachusetts man accused of conspiring in an alleged terror plot says his client should be allowed home confinement without Internet access until his trial. But a federal prosecutor argued at a detention hearing Thursday in Boston that 27-year-old Tarek Mehanna (TEH'-rek Meh-HAH'-nah) should be kept in jail without bail, saying he supports violent jihad and would have no qualms about implementing terror plans. Mehanna was arrested last month and accused of plotting with two other men to kill two prominent U.S. politicians, kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq and shoot people at shopping malls. Mehanna's attorney said his client would comply with strict house arrest. The judge did not immediately rule.- Loading Comments...
