NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several small-cap stocks were poised to move on above-average volume during Thursday's session.
3Com (COMS) surged by $1.86, or 32.7%, to $7.55 in the premarket session after Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) late Wednesday said it agreed to buy the company for $2.7 billion in cash, valuing shares of 3Com at $7.90. The three-month average daily volume for 3Com is 5.7 million, according to Yahoo! Finance. Youbet.com (UBET) jumped by 29 cents, or 12%, to $2.70 in the premarket session after Churchill Downs (CHDN) entered into a definitive agreement to buy the company in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $126.8 million. The three-month average daily volume for Youbet is 224,000, according to Yahoo! Finance. Boise (BZ) fell by 15 cents, or 2.8%, to $5.30 in the premarket session after the company late Wednesday announced a secondary offering of 17 million shares of common stock. The three-month average daily volume for Boise is 1.3 million, according to Yahoo! Finance. Jamba (JMBA) rose by 21 cents, or 12.4%, to $1.90 in the premarket session after the company late Wednesday posted third-quarter earnings of 4 cents a share on sales of $79 million, beating the single analyst estimate that called for the company to break even on $74.32 million in revenue. The three-month average daily volume for Jamba is 761,000, according to Yahoo! Finance. RealNetworks (RNWK) added 15 cents, or 4.1%, to $3.85 in the premarket session after Si.mobil Slovenia said it has chosen the company to power music service. The three-month average daily volume for RealNetworks is 866,000, according to Yahoo! Finance. KV Pharmaceutical (KV.A) dropped by 59 cents, or 16.4%, to $3 in the premarket session after the company said it is pursuing other initiatives to generate cash and currently plans to sell certain of its assets, such as the holdings of ARS and its PDI subsidiary.
