Which Retail Winner Will Be a Loser in a Recovery?

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The retail winners of the recession may not be the same winners when the economy recovers.

Retailers like Ross Stores(ROST Quote), TJX(TJX Quote), Wal-Mart Stores(WMT Quote), Aeropostale(ARO Quote) and Buckle(BKE Quote) have been standouts as consumers trade down or look for quality, trend-right merchandise. But which of these companies will have the most difficulty holding on to these shoppers once the recovery is in full swing?

Which of the following retailers, which have been successful throughout the recession, will have the hardest time succeeding when the economy recovers?

Aeropostale
Wal-Mart Stores
TJX
Ross Stores
Buckle
