Winners of the Day

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several small-cap stocks were poised to move on above-average volume during Monday's session. Ariad Pharmaceuticals (ARIA) jumped by 32 cents, or 14.8%, to $2.49 in the premarket session after a J.P. Morgan analyst upgraded the stock to overweight from neutral. Late Thursday, Ariad posted a third-quarter loss that widened from a year ago. The three-month average daily volume for Ariad is 2.98 million, according to Yahoo! Finance. Sunrise Senior Living (SRZ) fell by 31 cents, or 7.2%, to $4 in the premarket session after the company reported a third-quarter net loss of $44.4 million, or 88 cents a share while revenue sank to $382.6 million from $412.6 million in the year-ago quarter. The three-month average daily volume for Sunrise is 2.13 million, according to Yahoo! Finance. Kohlberg Capital (KCAP) dropped by 52 cents, or 9.4%, to $5 in the premarket session after the company delayed the release of its full earnings results for the third quarter. Kohlberg's independent public accountants, Deloitte & Touche, said that as a result of an annual internal inspection process, certain questions have been raised regarding the company's methodology and process of valuing its loan portfolio investments under fair value measurements. The three-month average daily volume for Kohlberg is 152,000, according to Yahoo! Finance. Xinyuan Real Estate (XIN) rose by 16 cents, or 3.4%, to $5 in the premarket session after the company posted third-quarter income per American depositary share of 10 cents a share while revenue jumped 40% to $128.2 million. Looking ahead, Xinyuan expects fourth-quarter revenue to fall between $120 million and $130 million. The three-month average daily volume for Xinyuan is 189,000, according to Yahoo! Finance. JA Solar Holdings (JASO) jumped by 21 cents, or 5.7%, to $3.92 in the premarket session, one day before the solar company is to report third-quarter earnings. Analysts expect JA Solar to report a profit of 3 cents a share on revenue of $136 million, according to Thomson Reuters.
