McDonald's Not Lovin' It in the U.S.

Stock quotes in this article: MCD , WEN , BKC

OAK BROOK, Ill. (TheStreet) -- McDonald's(MCD Quote) may be the McDaddy overseas, but the fast-food chain is still facing trouble at home.

Same-store sales slipped 0.1% in October, as growth remained essentially flat in the United States. But McDonald's saw a big boost internationally, as sales jumped 6.4% in Europe and 4.7% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Regardless, the company did see strength in Dollar Menu items, the new Angus burger and its McCafe espresso-based coffees in the U.S.

Last week, rival Wendy's/Arby's(WEN Quote) reported third-quarter profit that matched Wall Street's expectations, while Burger King(BKC Quote) posted a 6% decline in quarterly profit, missing forecasts.
