Gold Marches On to $1,100 an Ounce
Goldcorp(GG) reported third quarter earnings of 19 cents a share even though its net profit sank 62%. The company raised its 2009 production forecast to 2.4 million ounces. Shares got a slight lift to $40.15.
Heavily traded big-cap miners, Barrick Gold(ABX) and Newmont Mining(NEM), were relatively unchanged at $39.91 and $46.86 respectively. Shares of the popular SPDR Gold Shares(GLD) were trading at $106.75. --Written by Alix Steel in New York.TheStreet Premium Services
