Chrysler Is a Clunker; Sales Fall 30%

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Chrysler's auto sales tanked 30% in October, as the company saw weakness across nearly all of its models.

Sales fell to 65,803 from 94,530 last year. For the year-to-date, period sales sank 39% to 781,319, compared with 1.28 billion in the first 10 months last year.

By brand, Chrysler models lost 36% to 12,815 units, Jeep dropped 37% to 13,500 and Dodge fell 22% to 26,265.

Total truck sales for the month tumbled 31% to 48,247, while car sales declined 30% to 17,556 units.

But it wasn't all bad news; compared with September, sales actually rose 6%.
