MasterCard Looks to Offset Losses to Visa
Other business upgrades include Fifth Third Bancorp's (FITB) issuance of MasterCard's premium debit card product in September, which offers mass affluent consumers access to enhanced rewards, unique offers and savings opportunities, it said.
Fifth Third is the second issuer to launch the upgraded debit product. Midwest rival, KeyCorp (KEY) was the first to issue the product in March, the company said. In terms of prepaid wins, MasterCard, Wal-Mart (WMT) and First Data launched a new payroll card program for Wal-Mart and Sam's Club employees in the U.S. in September. MasterCard shares were off 3% to $215.44 in afternoon action. --Written by Laurie Kulikowski in New York.TheStreet Premium Services
