MasterCard, Kraft: Tomorrow's Headliners

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- MasterCard (MA Quote) and Kraft Foods (KFT Quote) will be among a handful of companies reporting earnings before and after Tuesday's trading session.

MasterCard is expected to report earnings of $2.94 a share, compared to a profit of $2.47 a share in the year-ago quarter, according to Thomson Reuters. Revenue should remain nearly unchanged from a year ago at $1.34 billion.

In addition to MasterCard, Archer-Daniels Midland (ADM Quote), AmerisourceBergen (ABC Quote), Medco Health (MHS Quote) and Marathon Oil (MRO Quote) will be among the names reporting before Tuesday's opening bell.

Kraft will release its quarterly report at the end of trading Tuesday. Analysts expect the Dow Jones Industrial Average component will post a profit of 48 cents a share on $10.32 billion in revenue. That compares to year-ago earnings of 44 cents a share and revenue of $10.46 billion.

Hartford Financial (HIG Quote) and Yamana Gold (AUY Quote), among many other companies, will also join Kraft in reporting earnings late Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the start of a new month brings the latest monthly auto sales data, with carmakers reporting results throughout the session. Edmunds.com said new vehicle sales in October (including fleet sales) are expected to be around 830,000 units, a 0.6% decrease from October 2008 but an 11.4% increase from September 2009.

Adjusted for fewer selling days, Edmunds.com estimates that Ford (F Quote) saw sales fall 6.9% from a year ago, but up 12.6% from September. General Motors is expected to see auto sales rise 2% from a year ago and 14.8% from September. Chrysler is expected to see October sales plummet 33.8% from a year ago, rising 4.3% compared to September's data.
