China Shares Up On Stronger Manufacturing Data
Medical-related shares soared as the swine flu pandemic widened. Shenzhen Neptunus Bioengineering Co. and vaccine maker Hualan Biological Engineering Co. both surged the daily limit of 10 percent — Neptunus to 20.35 yuan and Hualan to 68.19 yuan.
Shanghai-based companies got a lift from news reports the city's mayor signaled progress for a plan to build a Disney theme park there. Shanghai Jin Jiang International Industrial Investment Co. and Winsan (Shanghai) Industrial Co., a real estate firm, both advanced the daily maximum of 10 percent — Jin Jiang to 14.97 yuan and Winsan to 6.14 yuan.
