AMAG 3Q Loss Narrows Slightly On Anemia Drug Sales

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Biotechnology company AMAG Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Thursday that its third-quarter loss narrowed on higher sales of the anemia drug Feraheme.
The company lost of $22.1 million, or $1.29 per share, compared with a loss of $23.6 million, or $1.39 per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue surged to $3 million from $260,000. The company launched Feraheme in July. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, on average, expected a loss of $1.47 per share on revenue of $3 million. Feraheme is specifically aimed at treating iron deficiency anemia in chronic kidney disease patients. Shares of AMAG gained $3.24, or 9.4 percent, to $37.59 in morning trading.- Loading Comments...
