Revlon, Micromet: Early Volume Plays

 

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several small-cap stocks were poised to move on above-average volume during Thursday's session

LeMaitre Vascular (LMAT) jumped by 46 cents, or 11.1%, to $4.60 in the premarket session after the company late Wednesday said it swung to a third-quarter profit of $1.3 million, or 8 cents a share, from a year-ago loss, beating the Thomson Reuters average estimate for earnings of a penny a share. The three-month average daily volume for LeMaitre is 6,400, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Micromet (MITI) rose by 48 cents, or 9.8%, to $5.40 in the premarket session after the company announced a global collaboration and license agreement with Sanofi-Aventis (SNY) to develop a BiTE antibody against an antigen present at the surface of carcinoma cells. BiTE antibodies are novel therapeutic antibodies that activate a patient's T cells to seek out and destroy cancer cells, the company said. The three-month average daily volume for Micromet is 462,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Morgans Hotel Group (MHGC) was higher by 28 cents, or 8.9%, to $3.44 in the premarket session after the company late Wednesday said that it had a third-quarter net loss, excluding items, of $10.3 million, compared to a net loss of $9.3 million in the third quarter of 2008. Thomson Reuters reported that the adjusted loss was 37 cents a share in the quarter, beating the average analyst estimate for a loss of 38 cents a share. The three-month average daily volume for Morgans Hotel is 258,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Radvision (RVSN) tacked on 10 cents, or 1.8%, to $5.80 in the premarket session after the company posted third-quarter adjusted earnings of 13 cents a share, topping the Thomson Reuters average estimate of 9 cents a share. Revenue fell 5.2% to $20.4 million but still beat consensus targets. The three-month average daily volume for Radvision is 192,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Art Technology Group (ARTG) jumped by 26 cents, or 6.8%, to $4.10 in the premarket session after the company late Wednesday said it had third-quarter earnings of 4 cents a share, a penny better than the average analyst estimate. The company also announced a $25 million share buyback. The three-month average daily volume for Art Technology is 1.2 million, according to Yahoo! Finance.

ARYx Therapeutics (ARYX) surged by 60 cents, or 26.1%, to $2.90 in the premarket session after the company said it will cut its workforce to streamline its operations. The company also said it is resuming development of earlier-stage candidates. The three-month average daily volume for ARYx is 83,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Revlon (REV) rose by 30 cents, or 5.2%, to $6.05 in the premarket session after the company said it had third-quarter adjusted earnings of 45 cents a share, handily beating the lone analyst estimate for a loss of 16 cents a ahare. The three-month average daily volume for Revlon is 244,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.
