Sears Ramps up Holiday Price War

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Sears(SHLD Quote) is bringing all its forces to battle in the holiday price war.

The department store announced today that it will be offering weekly Black Friday promotions starting Oct. 31.

Sears will have deals on everything from home electronics to jewelry and apparel every Saturday until Christmas.

The news comes as competitors -- namely Wal-Mart Stores(WMT Quote), Amazon(AMZN Quote) and Target(TGT Quote) -- are ramping up their holiday promotions.

Wal-Mart is offering blockbuster deals on toys and books, which other retailers, including Sears, are attempting to replicate.

Last week, Sears said it will reward shoppers who purchase books from its list of highly-anticipated new releases, with a credit equal to the purchase price -- up to $9.

Shoppers can spend this credit on a purchase of $45 or more on Sears.com.
