Xilinx 2Q Profit Falls 21 Percent On Drop In Sales

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Chip maker Xilinx Inc. said Wednesday its fiscal second-quarter profit declined 21 percent, hurt by lower revenue.
The company earned $64 million, or 23 cents per share, for the quarter ended Sept. 26, down from $81.1 million, or 29 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier. Revenue fell 14 percent to $415 million from $483.5 million. The results include restructuring charges of 2 cents per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting a profit of 22 cents per share on sales of $410 million. The company said it expects sales to grow about 6 percent to 10 percent sequentially. Analysts expects sales of $422.5 million for the fiscal third quarter. Shares gained 2 cents to $24.10 in after-hours trading.
