Historic Inn Comes With Ghosts: Unreal Estate

Bennett sees New Orleans as a city slowly recovering from disasters both economic and hurricane related.

"We've got all sorts of different people in the real estate marketplace, but it is not as strong a market as it should be," he says.

That recovery may gain momentum as more and more investors are reminded of the city's many charms. Bennett touts the French Quarter as a "magical place" a confluence of music, food and architecture that is like few other places on Earth.

"A lot of people see Bourbon Street as a place with all the strip clubs and honky-tonks and everything else," he says. "But you have to look past the legs flinging out, and the barkers and what have you, and look at the buildings. When you look at the buildings, you will see that Bourbon Street was the preeminent street of the French Quarter."
