NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- JPMorgan Chase (JPM Quote) will become the first of the big U.S. banks to report third-quarter financial results before Wednesday's session, with several other earnings reports on tap as well.
JPMorgan Chase is expected to report a profit of 49 cents a share on revenue of $24.8 billion, according to a poll of analysts by Thomson Reuters. Since its better-than-expected second-quarter report on July 16, the stock is up more than 25%, based on Monday's close at $46.08. In addition to JPMorgan, Abbott Labs (ABT Quote) will report earnings before the start of trading Wednesday. Analysts are looking for a profit of 90 cents a share on revenue of $7.75 billion. Progressive (PGR Quote) and Host Hotels (HST Quote) will also post results early Wednesday. After the closing bell, Crown Holdings (CCK Quote), Xilinx (XLNX Quote) and Landstar System (LSTR Quote) are among those scheduled to report quarterly results. Of course, investors will be reacting to earnings from Intel (INTC Quote), which reported after the close of trading Tuesday. While the earnings torrent is just picking up, the economic docket is packed with reports. At 8:30 a.m. EDT, the Commerce Department will post retail sales data for September, which should tumble 2.1% after a 2.7% rise in August. Excluding autos, retail sales should climb 0.2% after a 1.1% rise in August. At the same time, the Labor Department will release import and export price data for September. Later, the Census Bureau will post business inventories data for August at 10 a.m. EDT, while the Federal Reserve will release the minutes from the September meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee at 2 p.m. EDT.- Loading Comments...
