President Steps Down From Gammon Gold

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Fred George retired Tuesday as chairman, president and director of Gammon Gold Inc., the gold and silver producer said.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia, company said George, who was appointed president in 1997 and chairman in 2002, will remain with Gammon Gold as an adviser to the board of directors. He will also work between Gammon Gold and various levels of the Mexican government.

Gammon Gold said it is one of the largest precious-metal producers operating solely in Mexico. It is listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges.
