NEW YORK (AP) — Inpatient rehabilitation services provider HealthSouth Corp. gave a positive third-quarter forecast on Friday, saying its adjusted profit will be greater than it was in third quarter of 2008.
The Birmingham, Ala., company, reported a consolidated profit of $79.3 million a year ago, before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization. It also said patient discharge volumes grew in the most recent quarter, and said it is on track to reach its goal of 4 percent discharge growth in the second half of 2009. Pricing is similar to year-ago levels, HealthSouth said. The company's views were disclosed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. HealthSouth will hold a conference call to discuss its third quarter results on Nov. 4. In morning trading, HealthSouth shares rose 7 cents to $17.39.
