Coach Sues Target Over Design

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Coach(COH Quote) is suing Target(TGT Quote) over bags that Coach says look a whole lot like ones it sells.

Coach said in a complaint filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan that it wants Target to stop selling the bags and to pay an undetermined amount in damages, injunctive relief and attorney fees.

Target began selling handbags this summer with "exact and/or confusingly similar reproductions of Coach's Ergo designs and Signature Patchwork designs," Coach claims.

This is not the first time the luxury handbag and accessories retailer has gone after Target. In 2006 Coach sued Target for similar reasons, but the two companies settled the case.
