BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — European Union regulators approved Hologic Inc.'s ThinPrep integrated imaging cervical cancer screening device, the company said Tuesday.

Hologic said the device can analyze a Pap smear slide in about 90 seconds, and then identify cells and cell groups that may be of interest to clinicians. The company said the product combines slide review and ThinPrep imaging technology into one device.

Hologic makes diagnostics products for women. It said the ThinPrep integrated imager has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. In afternoon trading, Hologic stock added 2 cents to $16.60.
