FedEx Appoints Waste Management CEO To Board

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — FedEx Corp. shareholders on Monday elected Waste Management Inc. CEO David Steiner of Waste Management Inc. to its board of directors for a one-year term.

Steiner will join the board as part of its audit committee. Steiner also serves on the board of Tyco Electronics Ltd.

FedEx's board also re-elected 11 other director nominees for one-year terms.

It also approved Ernst & Young LLP as FedEx's independent auditor for fiscal 2010.

The board did not approve any of four stockholder proposals, which included a proposal that the chairman of the board be an independent director who has not previously served in an executive office at FedEx.

Shares of FedEx added $2.49, or 3.4 percent, to close at $75.87.
