Copart 4Q Profit Falls 15 Percent On Sales Slide

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Copart Inc., a junk-car auction service, said Wednesday that its fiscal fourth-quarter profit fell 15 percent to $34.6 million, as sales fell more than 10 percent.

The earnings for the three months ended July 31 were equivalent to 41 cents a share, compared to a profit of $40.8 million, or 47 cents a share, a year ago.

Sales in the quarter fell to $184.3 million from $206.3 million a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters, who generally exclude one-time items from their estimates, were expecting earnings of 43 cents a share on sales of $184.9 million.
