MINNEAPOLIS -- Airline shares were mixed Friday, a day after posting big gains on an upbeat note from a JPMorgan analyst who said it looks like the big carriers can make it through the winter without a bankruptcy. With the dollar falling to a new 2009 low, oil prices extended their rise, up 29 cents to $72.23 per barrel for October delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Amex Airline Index was little changed. JetBlue Airways (JBLU Quote) fell 4 cents to $6.15, and Alaska Air Group (ALK Quote) fell 30 cents to $26.66. Delta Air Lines (DAL Quote) shares were unchanged at $8.10. American Airlines parent AMR (AMR Quote) rose 3 cents, or 0.45%, to $6.72, and United Airlines parent UAL (UAUA Quote) rose 9 cents to $7.70. Continental Airlines (CAL Quote) was unchanged at $14.66, and US Airways Group (LCC Quote) was also unchanged, at $4.02. Southwest Airlines (LUV Quote) rose 9 cents to $9.34, and AirTran Holdings (AAI Quote) fell 11 cents, or 1.8%, to $6.53.- Loading Comments...
