Alliant To Soon Startup Wind Farm Energy In Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) Officials of Alliant Energy Corp. say they expect the utility to begin generating electricity from its Franklin County, Iowa wind farm this year.
The Whispering Willow-East Wind Farm will bring online the first 200 megawatts of a potential 500-megawatt wind development acquired by Alliant's Interstate Power & Light utility in 2007. Company officials did not say when Alliant will bring that power online or when it will develop the remaining 200 megawatts of potential at the site. Another 100 megawatts of wind energy will be developed at a site called Whispering Willow-West. In an environmental report, Alliant says the farm will supply enough electricity to power about 50,000 homes per year.- Loading Comments...
