CSC Receives $162 Million NASA Contract

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — Computer Sciences Corp. said Tuesday it received a contract valued at up to $162 million from NASA to continue providing aviation services through the Johnson Space Center Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Program.

Under the contract, CSC will provide maintenance and modification services for aircraft supporting NASA programs. The services include micro-gravity testing and Space Shuttle pilot training.

The work will be performed on aircraft assigned to the Johnson Space Center in Houston; the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., and the Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.

Among the aircraft are two Boeing 747s specially modified to transport the Space Shuttle, several Gulfstream jets modified to simulate the flight characteristics of the Space Shuttle and NASA's fleet of T-38 trainers.

CSC also will provide flight operations, technical data management and T-38 Depot Maintenance Services as required.

The contract has a six-month base period and two 12-month options. The original Johnson Space Center contract was awarded to CSC in 1994.

Shares of CSC edged up 29 cents to $48.83 in morning trading.
