O.I. Unit Receives $5.7 Million Army Contract

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — O.I. Corp., a maker of chemical analysis equipment, said Friday its subsidiary, CMS Field Products won a contract to provide services to the U.S. Army.

The under the $5.7 million contract, CMS will provide an air monitoring system to Bechtel National Inc., Bechtel is under contract to install equipment for the Army's Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant in Pueblo, Colo.

The equipment will be used for low-level air monitoring at the facility to warn workers of an unexpected release of chemical agents during their destruction.

O.I.'s CMS unit will begin the work immediately and will continue to ship equipment under the contract for 18 months.

Shares of O.I. rose 38 cents, or 6.2 percent to $6.50 in afternoon trading.
