Utility Plans ND Power Line To Serve Wind Farm

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) A utility is planning construction of a 22-mile power line to feed wind-generated electricity into North Dakota's transmission system.
The state Public Service Commission has agreed to shorten the time Minnesota Power, a division of Allete Inc., must wait before filing a siting application for the line. It would stretch from near Mosbrucker Lake northwest of New Salem, in western Morton County, to the Square Butte electric substation in Oliver County, southeast of Center. Minnesota Power estimates the line would cost $13 million to build. The utility wants to start construction next spring. The power line would serve a proposed 76 megawatt wind project in western Morton and Oliver counties.- Loading Comments...
