Nanosphere Sends FDA Flu Test Application

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (AP) — Diagnostic system developer Nanosphere Inc. said Tuesday it has applied to the Food and Drug Administration to run its flu and respiratory syncytial virus test on its Verigene SP system.

Nanosphere is a molecular diagnostic company that makes genetic and protein tests. The Verigene system provides "sample-to-result" automation, according to a company statement. Samples are taken for the system, processed at the same site, and results are delivered in a few hours.

Nanosphere shares climbed 12 cents to $7.10 in morning trading.
