Bull or Bear? Vote in Our Poll
The stock market turned in its first losing week in five this week.
On Friday, thanks to some sinking consumer confidence, stocks finished lower, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which had dropped more than 150 points earlier in the day, finished lower by 77 points, or 0.8%, to 9,321. The S&P 500 lost 9 points, or 0.9%, to 1004. The Nasdaq Composite declined 23.83 points, or 1.2%, to 1985.52. For the week, the Dow was down 0.5%, the S&P 500 off by 0.6% and the Nasdaq lower by 0.7%. So can stocks get it together next week in the face of persistently negative data on housing and the consumer (although inflation was flat in July) and with a contentious health care debate as the backdrop? Let us know by voting in the poll below.![]() |
