Wal-Mart, Ford, Dish, PerkinElmer Are Big Movers

NEW YORK (AP) — The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange:

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., up $1.37 at $51.88

Wal-Mart earned more than Wall Street forecast in its second quarter on tighter inventory controls, but same-store sales fell.

Kohl<s Corp., up 12 cents at $52.39

The department store operator<s second-quarter results beat expectations on strong sales of home products and accessories.

Ford Motor Co., up 20 cents at $7.90

Ford said it will build more of its popular Focus and Escape vehicles and boost overall production of cars and trucks this year.

J. Crew Group Inc., up 68 cents at $31.14

The preppy retailer's trendy merchandise, strong customer traffic and top-notch management led an analyst to upgrade the stock.

PerkinElmer Inc., up 94 cents at $17.80

An analyst upgraded the life sciences company, saying its price, and Wall Street expectations, have fallen to more reasonable levels.

AutoZone Inc., down $3.36 at $145.13

An analyst downgraded the auto parts retailer, saying the do-it-yourself car repair business is showing signs of slowing.

NASDAQ:

Microsoft Corp., up 9 cents at $23.62

Microsoft said it will include its popular Outlook program in the next version of its Office suite for Apple Inc.'s Mac computers.

Dish Network Corp., down 25 cents at $17.99

The satellite-TV services provider said its subsidiary priced a $1 billion offering of 10 year senior notes for corporate purposes.
