According to a list obtained by the Associated Press, domestic targets included the State Department and the Defense Department.
Ironically, the National Security Agency and the Homeland Security Department were targeted, as well. The Washington Post was not spared, either. Just last week, reports circulated that the Obama administration is working on finalizing a new counter-cyberattack pilot program called Einstein 3. The program has come under criticism from privacy and civil liberties advocates concerned about the NSA's role in the effort. Recent speculation about the source of the attacks has centered on North Korea, as the Yonhap news agency in Seoul reported several unnamed South Korean officials saying as much.
