Citigroup (C Quote) has appointed three executives to new leadership roles overseeing the Asia Pacific region, following the departure last month of the executive overseeing the businesses.

Stephen Bird and Shirish Apte were named as co-CEOs of the region, taking over for Ajay Banga, who has departed for MasterCard (MA Quote). Bird, 42, most recently held the post of CEO for North Asia and head of consumer banking and global card for Asia Pacific. Apte, 56, was CEO of the Central and Eastern European regions.

Also adding some polish to his resume is Shengman Zhang, 52, now chairman of Asia Pacific. He had been president of the region and vice chairman of global banking.

Citi also named Bill Mills and Alberto Verme CEOs of Europe, Middle East and Africa. Mills was already a top executive in Europe, while Verme, based in Dubai, will now be spending additional time in London to help fill the management void created by Apte's move, according to a Citigroup spokesman.
