Traders looking toward the beach for the Fourth of July weekend will have to cool their jets a bit as the New York Stock Exchange will close 15 minutes later Thursday due to system irregularities.
CNBC reported the extra time was needed to execute orders after the system problems occurred. Nasdaq trading finished at 4 p.m. EDT as usual. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were all down more than 2% toward the end of the day after the U.S. government reported greater-than-expected job losses in June. Alcoa(AA Quote), Caterpillar(CAT Quote), Home Depot(HD Quote) and Travelers(TRV Quote) were all down more than 3% on the Dow toward the end of the session.- Loading Comments...
