Euro Down Against The Dollar At $1.3855

BERLIN (AP) — The euro dropped against the dollar on Monday, as the ongoing political unrest in Iran appeared to drive investors into safer currencies.

The 16-nation euro bought $1.3855 in morning European trading, down from the $1.3958 it bought late Friday in New York. The British pound also dipped to $1.6417, down from $1.6516 in New York at the close of last week.

The dollar bought 96.03 yen, down slightly from 96.30 in New York.

Opposition protests continued in Iran over the weekend, and Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi called for them to continue, despite the acknowledgment of the irregularities in the presidential vote.
