Swiss Bankers Association Elects Odier As Chairman

BASEL, Switzerland (AP) — The Swiss Bankers Association on Monday elected Patrick Odier as chairman to succeed Pierre Mirabaud, who had been the public face of the industry since 2003.

Pierre Mirabaud, with his distinctive curled mustache and round glasses, made headlines last year when he compared Germany's efforts to uncover tax evasion to those of the Nazi secret police. He later retracted his claim that Germany was using "Gestapo" methods.

Odier is a senior partner with Geneva-based private bank Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie.
